The Sacrifice of Humanity for our Advancement of Human Life - Full

Without a doubt computer-based technology has evolved and its usage continues to cover
new territory daily. First world countries have seen the most dramatic effects and advancements from the electrical calculator to the iPhone. Humans have adapted to the new and progressive life-style, which is overrun with computers, that now provides guaranteed medical results and compatibility rates with online dating users. When does the tool start to take credit for the accomplishment? At what point do we lose humanity because what humans are capable of doing without any assistance, isn't good enough? As a society, the people of first world countries are losing their overall humanity as a result of increased usage of advanced technology ranging from cell phones to medicinal electronic replacements, and near future speculations from implemented cognitive technology to longevity enhancing nanobots.

Analysis of the Concept: Resistance, From Prayer to the Masks by Leopold Sedar Senghor -Full

To resist is to counter, to rebel, and to struggle.

Throughout the last century West Africa has made great strides towards independence and liberation from European dominance; most noted, Senegal and their emancipation from French control. The Senegalese people earned their freedoms after having resisted the many European influences brought by settlers, decades before. The resistance was driven by courage and bravery, but perhaps even more importantly, pride. Leopold Sedar Senghor’s short story includes themes of unity, rebirth, and resistance. Senghor’s expertise in conceptual resistance allowed him to mold a short story for which these themes describe the proud people of Senegal. Pride unified the people of Senegal and motivated them to rebel and oppose the invasion of European culture; that pride and the developing resistance show through in Senghor’s Prayer to the Masks.

The Light in the Chaos - Full/Section

Preface

If ever there was a fair day, this was one. The sun above the horizon early in time as if to get to work early, to clean the mess from the past night’s storm. The rustling noise from the streets below had become inaudible by nature having lived in the same apartment for seven years. The third story apartment was above a hair salon on the second floor and a mattress store on the first floor. It was a nice area of town and the people in his building were generally nice, kept to themselves mostly, but every now and then something special would happen like a surprise pie or pizza gift. The apartment was good sized, one bedroom, decent kitchen, but for Charles Hawkson, the real seller was location. Twenty minutes from the Metro Police Station and the whole commute was local interstate. Leave Apricot, jump on I-33 S, then merge onto I-283 W then take the second exit (Wessington Dr.), two blocks later turn left and park; cake.
